MICHALSKY StyleNite 2011 was opened with FALCON light staging directed by Gert Hof

Es war eine glanzvolle Showeröffnung. Zu dem Titel "Nothing Else Matters" von Metallica inszenierte Lichtarchitekt Gert Hof unter dem Hauptthema "Tolerance" eine großartige Lichtshow als Eröffnung für die MICHALSKY StyleNite 2011 im Rahmen der Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin.

Es begann mit effektvoll entzündeten Feuerschalen und wandelte sich in eine Performance aus Laser und Xenonlicht. Gert Hof nutzte für seine Inszenierung unter anderem 78 FALCON Xenon Searchlights der Firma A&O Technology. Der polnische Lichtoperator Pawel „Spider“ Pajak wurde für das Programming hinzugezogen während A&O Technology die lichttechnische Leitung hatte. Die Searchlights positionierte Gert Hof innerhalb des Zuschauersaals im Herzen des Tempodroms und hängte über die Hälfte der Hochleistungsscheinwerfer in Traversenringen über den Catwalk. Dieses bildeten ineinander übergehende und farblich wechselnde Lichtbilder sowie immer wiederkehrend einen dreifachen Kreis aus Lichtpunkten am Boden. Mit dem sanften Ausklang der Gitarrenklänge des Metallica-Klassikers wurden die Xenonlichter spiralförmig ausgeschaltet um kurz darauf den Michalsky StyleNite Catwalk zu eröffnen und Fashion wie Models, darunter internationale Models wie Toni Garrn und Andrej Pejic, ins rechte Licht zu setzen. Den Beginn machte die MICHALSKY Frühjahrs- und Sommerkollektion 2012 die unter dem Motto „Tolerance“ stand. Nach einem kurzen Live Act der britischen Synthie-Pop-Band „Mirrors“ folgte die Premiere der ersten „LASCANA by MICHALSKY“ Beachware-Kollektion. Final lud der Designer die Models und die Gäste ein, den Abend bei der legendären MICHALSKY Aftershow Party bei der Musik des DJ-Duos Tiefschwarz ausklingen zu lassen und der Präsentation des neuen MICHALSKY Dufts beizuwohnen. Lichttechnisch wurde das Areal der After Show Party unter anderem durch VersaTILE LED-Wandmodule und FALCON FLOWER 3000W harmonisch in Szene gesetzt.

Für die Eröffnung seiner zehnten Fashionshow engagierte Michael Michalsky den Berliner Lichtkünstler  Gert Hof, der mit seinem Stilmittel Licht das Motto Toleranz und die Arbeit des Fashion-Designers Michalsky dramaturgisch, künstlerisch und grafisch interpretierte. Diese Performance wurde exklusiv für die etwa 1.500 Gäste der StyleNite aufgeführt und via Livestream online gezeigt.

Für Gert Hof, der überwiegend Lichtshows unter freiem Himmel kreiert, war die Inszenierung im Tempodrom eine Herausforderung aufgrund der speziellen Konstruktion des Faltdaches und dem begrenzten Raum. „Mein Lichttriptychon soll dem Tempodrom etwas Einmaliges verleihen. Eine Schule des Staunens. Die Kuppel aus Beton, durch deren Öffnung im Zenit Tageslicht hereinfällt, wird das Zentrum der Lichtinstallation sein. Jedes Material hat seine spezifischen Eigenschaften und Tabus, hat seinen eigenen Charakter, will seine Geschichte erzählen. Es gilt die optimale Sprache zwischen unterschiedlichen Materialien herauszufinden.“

Laut Michalsky verfolgten insgesamt fast 20.000 Zuschauer die begehrte Michalsky StyleNite, die den krönenden Abschluss der Mercedes Benz Fashion Week bildete. Denn neben den 1.500 geladenen Gästen nutzen etwa 17.595 Interessierte das Onlineangebot des Livestreams. Für eine Veranstaltung, die im Grunde nur einem Fachpublikum und Prominenten offen steht, ein wahrer Zuschauerrekord.

Light architect Gert Hof set in stage the MICHALSKY StyleNite on 08th July, 2011 at the Tempodrom during the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2011.    

At the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin 2011 the internationally known and famous fashion designer Michael Michalsky is celebrating his 10th anniversary of fashion shows in Berlin with his summer collection 2012 under the theme of “Tolerance”. Gert Hof is designing and directing the opening of the MICHALSKY StyleNite at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2011 in Berlin  with a spectacular light performance with A&O Technology FALCON Xenon Searchlights.

Michalsky who represents as no other German fashion designer the city of Berlin and the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin has engaged the famous light artists Hof to perform his unique light design exclusively to open the fashion show for him. The Performance will artistically and dramatically as well as graphically interpret the fashion of Michael Michalsky.

Whilst the works of Gert Hof typically can be watched by hundreds and thousands of viewers on television, this performance will be exclusive and one-time staged for about 1.400 guests of the StyleNite.

For Gert Hof it is a Premier: “I’m so glad to work with Michael Michalsky and to have the opportunity to reflect with my elements of light design his creations in fashion in the unique location of the Tempodrom.”

Wherever Gert Hof appears, he cause quite a stir. For one night he takes a cit, make it to hiss tage, and millions of viewers’ breath caught. His stagings of light, laser, music and fire are unrivalled – each is unique.

For the Opener 78 FALCON Xenon Searchlights will be used in the indoor arena Tempodrom in Berlin to set new standards and terms of light show performance in fashion shows. It is one of a few indoor events which Gert Hof has designed and will perform. You can follow it up online while he is directing the light show performance live. It is a challenging experience for the artist and the lighting technology because of the folded roof construction and the architecture of the building.

“My Triptychon of lights will give a unique light experience to the show in the Tempodrom. It will create a school of astonishment .The dome of concrete where in the zenit daylight is shining through will be the center of my light installation. Each material has its own specific attribution and its tabus as well as its character, will tell its own story. It is to find out the perfect essence and the optimum of voice between the different materials.”

Pawel ‘Spider” Pajak and Tomasz “Szwelik” Szwelicki are the light operator of the light performance.
