“Nine Rays Of Light In The Sky”

Warsaw bids to be named European Capital of Culture 2016

The project “Nine Rays Of Light In The Sky” is a joint venture between the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and the city’s Department of Culture, which commissioned TSE Laser Light & Sound to provide and set up the lighting equipment. The project involved the recreation of an original installation by Henryk Stażewski, one of the leading figures in the Polish avant-garde movement. For it, TSE opted for the use of xenon searchlights from the FALCON range manufactured by alpha one, which it ordered from A&O Technology, the source of the eponymous ‘nine rays of light’, which create geometrical patterns in the night sky that can be seen for miles around, being nine FALCON BEAM colour 7000W searchlights from alpha one.

The original ‘sky painting’ was conceived by Stazewski in 1969 and first displayed during the Wroclav 70 art festival a year later. In the summer of 2008, the Museum Abteiberg in Mönchengladbach also presented this ‘vertical structure of light’, whilst the December 2008 illumination in Warsaw represents part of the city’s bid to be named ‘European Capital of Culture’ in the year 2016. It is the first of a series of artistic projects planned for the coming years by the Museum of Modern Art and the city council’s Department of Culture that are designed to present Warsaw’s case for the prestigious title.

This is by no means the first time that TSE Poland and A&O Technology have worked successfully together; the Red Bull X-Fighters Final, the Strefa Kultury Festival and the Kayanis concert in Warsaw’s Agrykola Park, all provided ample evidence of the chemistry between the two firms. TSE is an enthusiastic user of the FALCON range of xenon searchlights and regularly deploys powerful luminaires from the A&O rental range to add drama to events for which it is responsible.
