Winter event VW Autostadt Wolfsburg 2006/2007

Premiere application of the searchlights FALCON™ BEAM 7.000W at the winter event „Russian winter journey“ at "VW Autostadt”

„Russian winter journey at VW Autostadt“ that’s the theme of the winter event 2006 in Wolfsburg. From 2nd December 2006 the theme park will get fabulous Russian. A Christmassy winter fair out of snowy onion spire cottages with Russian craftwork and culinaria and musical pleasures from the Volga region was placed around a gorgeous decorated and huge Christmas tree and invites to wallow. The “Cafe Zarenhof” affords a cosily atmosphere for watching the hustle and bustle on ice-rank and christmas fair. A debate, concerts, several musical presentations, steam carousel, literary evenings and Sunday matinées round off this Russian-Christmassy event.

The ice-skating fairy tale “Katenka and the ice wolf” is deemed to be the height of the Christmassy scenery and was exclusively staged for this event in cooperation with the German figure-skating star Norbert Schramm. The home production (Autostadt/Schramm) will be staged in weekly changing acts by an international ensemble and will present the complete four chapters in the last December week. The atmospheric illumination of the ice-dancing show takes place for the most part with FALCON™ searchlights:  15 FALCON™ BEAM 7.000W and 5 FALCON™ BEAM 3.000W will be mounted therefor on distinctive buildings in the park around the heightened ice-rank. Thereby the 7.000W strong searchlights of the FALCON™ range celebrate their first application. The technical administration of the light production of the ice-dancing show undertakes technical product manager Thomas Wlocka.

On top of this is the annual recurrent illumination of the chimneys of the old plant as Advent candles. Each Sunday the designer Max Wehberg and the technical administrator Christian Kiel let another chimney immerse into luminous red. Therefor the distributor A&O Lighting Technology GmbH delivered and installed 140 architectural lighting fixtures like last year in addition to the 20 FALCON™ BEAM. Among them are the following architectural lighting systems of the FALCON™ range:  SKY FALCON™ ARC white 1.200W, SKY FALCON™ ARC colour 1.200W und FALCON™ STATIC ARC white 4.000W. With this inspiration it’s easy to get into the right mood for the festive Advent season.

Winter event in the Autostadt Wolfsburg 2001

The biggest advent candles of the world gleamed for Christmas in the Autostadt Wolfsburg. The four chimneys of the VW powerhouse in the Autostadt Wolfsburg  glew like candles of a flower arrangement for advent. Every advent sunday one of the biggest advent candles of the world were switched on.

Lighting desiger Max Wehberg had the wish to install a peak in shape of a candle flame on top of each of the four chimneys. Four weeks of lead time later, A&O Technology realized the special project. Under the overall direction of Marco Niedermeier a team of structural designers and engineers from Bremen, Hannover and Braunschweig, created the probably biggest advent candles of the world.

12 special transporter, an 80-strong team and a lot of special cranes and  implements made the great project possible. The 15 metres high flame constructions, with a total weight of 30 t, were carried by the special helicopter "Super Puma" (from Switzerland) on top of the chimneys where they could be installed.

Right at the first advent, the first candle in Wolfsburg gleamed.
