New campus for women opened at Dubai's Zayed University

A&O Technology illuminates university complex

The opening of the new campus for women at Zayed University in Dubai was supported by A&O Technology Middle East on the 5th November 2007 with a colourful lighting installation. Following a lighting design by Pawel "Spider" Pajak, a breathtaking spectacle, broadcast live by Dubai TV, unfolded beneath the night sky.

Commissioned by the Gulf Arena Dubai, the Abu Dhabi-based service provider A&O developed an atmospheric lighting concept that combined architectural luminaires with searchlights. The equipment deployed included inter alia 40 SKY FALCON® ARC colour 1.2 kW, 22 FALCON® BEAM 3 kW und 6 FALCON® FLOWER 3 kW units. In order to bathe the entire building complex in a magnificent garment of changing colours, architectural spotlights positioned at strategic locations all round the campus were trained on the facades, whilst impressive highlights were added for the opening ceremony by xenon searchlights on the roofs and above the stage.

After the welcoming of the guests, who included UAE University and Research Minister Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al-Nahayan, the new campus was presented and the opening celebrated with a multimedia show followed by a gala dinner. The clients described the illumination during the opening ceremony, for which the St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra provided background music, as "overwhelming". Other participants included Flash Art Dubai and Lighthouse Production Dubai.
